COLAC and district residents could help solve a wartime mystery.
The Colac RSL hopes to find out about five servicemen from the district who feature in a photo from 1940.
RSL president Ian Morgan said the photograph was of a farewell party for the servicemen.
“We know it’s at the Gellibrand Hall,” Mr Morgan said.
“They left in 1940, it looks like they were all given a book or Bible,” he said.
“We’d like to know who is in the photograph.”
Mr Morgan said he could look up the service records once he knew their names.
“There could be a whole story behind each of those blokes,” Mr Morgan told the Colac Herald.
People who might know the servicemen can contact the Colac Herald with further information.
Meanwhile Mr Morgan said badge sellers would be out in Colac in the lead up to Anzac Day.
“The proceeds support the welfare of veterans,” he said.
