Bravery medals for rescue

Bruce Hall has received an Australian Bravery Medal for helping pull a man from a car wreck, minutes before it burst into flames.

TWO Colac district men have received accolades for helping a man escape from a car accident.

Irrewarra’s Bruce Hall and Elliminyt’s Arron Graham have collected Australian Bravery Medals at Melbourne’s Government House, for helping Beeac man Jim Ennor after his car crashed into a power pole on the Colac-Ballarat Road, Beeac, in July 2009.

Paramedics rushed Mr Ennor to hospital in a serious condition and he survived, but he later died of an unrelated cause.

Mr Hall said he felt proud to accept the award on Friday but he was keen to recognise the other people who helped rescue Mr Ennor.

“I want to thank John Lee for his quick response,” he said of a Colac policeman.

“They had all the emergency crews there – his quick response saved a life because the gas tank had split,” he said.
