Councillors can’t offer opinions

What utter nonsense. Councillors are there not only to listen but also to inform and gather opinion.
Due to the incredibly poor job council has done at informing ratepayers of what the proposed changes are, most of the discussion is being lead from ignorance. I don’t agree with a lot of the nonsense being batted around by some councillors, but council has itself to blame for a lot of it because it has been carrying on as if someone has let the lawyers take over and run wild, fees included.
A lot of the changes council has proposed make sense, and some of the overlays do too. But for the average ratepayer to actually work out what those changes are is near impossible, extremely time consuming. If council actually knows what they are doing, they need to step up and explain it. Instead we have Small saying councillors aren’t allowed to voice any concerns that may be deemed opinions (what a lawyer)
