Mr. Macdonald is full of rhetoric but provides sparse evidence to support his argument. What are the so called “Mother Earth policies” he is referring to?
Where is the evidence that “Green policies” are reducing land values?
Land values rise and fall due to the cyclical nature of farming.
Farmers are doing it tough but should they, therefore, be given carte Blanche to do what they like with the land irrespective of what harm may occur to the environment. No doubt many farmers are excellent environmentalists but many aren’t and that is one reason why many species of flora and fauna are facing extinction, not to mention the damage to waterways. Anyone who puts the $ ahead of the environment is short-sighted.
There are many great farmers in the Colac region who are suffering because of the price they get at the market for their produce. This the real issue that governments should be addressing.
