I don’t see it that it was Chris’ fault the Mayor didn’t or couldn’t answer a simple question for herself.
Well if the mayor had replied we would have then had Chris Smith complain the mayor was criticizing him.
Chris just had to be honest with Taylah and answer the question himself, and there never would have been any confrontation. And even if he failed to do that, he should have first sought out mediation to try to resolve the differences.
That may be right, but the Mayor still should of answered her question. Otherwise, what your saying is that its ok for Russell but not Smith!
I have NO political or personal bias here, only saying that if people want respect they should give it.
Appears some haven’t quite understood an explanation of the facts. There have been claims that “the current mentors met to discuss the claims of the mayor”. It is important to note that this is a false claim.
It was you Chris Smith who made that claim.
It’s sad to see Chris Smith still trying to point the finger at others with comments like: “SOME of the current mentors” . He seemingly has dug himself in so deep, he can’t see how this all centres around himself. Had Chris Smith been honest with Taylah, if Chris Smith had fulfilled his duty to council none of this would have occurred. All he had to do was tell Taylah it was because he had failed to report to council on his roles; how he had refused to go to briefings;l how he had let his personal feelings towards “SOME” stand in the way of performing his duties.
As a mentor, as a community leader, Chris surely knew the correct way to resolve this would be via private mediation: not this path of personal attacks he is currently fostering
Pleased that with the help of the Colac Herald and the community we finally managed to get Taylah’s work on Youth Council Recognised. UNFORTUNATELY Taylah has NOT been reinstated to Youth Council for the remainder of 2013 and therefore still has the unjust situation of “Being removed from the 2013 Youth Council”. Also for the sake of accuracy it was not “Youth Council” that removed Taylah. NO Youth Councillor has commented negatively on Taylah’s actions. It was SOME of the current mentors, (none of who where present), on the word of the Mayor alone, that removed, took away recognition and band Taylah from Youth Council.
If Cr Russell ‘has more respect for the youth’ why did she not answer Taylah in the first place??? It probably wouldn’t of turned out the it has if she had.
Glad Taylah is getting the formal precognition deserved, although most of the public was happy to give her recognition regardless.
