THE Country Fire Authority has declared today a day of total fire ban for Colac and district.
Colac and district is expecting a top of 40 degrees Celsius, with winds north to north westerly 25 to 35 kilometres an hour, shifting south westerly in the evening.
The CFA has rated today’s fire danger as “extreme”.
A total fire ban means people must not light fire in the open air or use welders, grinders and solders.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting more warm days for the rest of the week, with the temperature gauge reaching 36 degrees on Saturday and 38 degrees on Sunday.
