Woman hurt in motorcycle crash

A WOMAN is in hospital with a fractured hip, and another man is uninjured, after two motorcycle crashes in the Otways at the weekend.

A woman in her 40s was riding on the Colac-Forrest Road near Forrest when she swerved to miss a tree which had fallen across the road.

Sergeant Graeme Fuller of Colac said the woman braked and dropped the bike, sliding along the road.

Her bike hit the tree.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said ambulance officers attended a crash at 1.14pm yesterday.

Mr Mullen said the motorcyclist suffered a fractured hip.

“She was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition,” he said.

Another crash happened on Deans Marsh-Lorne Road at Barramunga involving a male motorcyclist.

“A motorcyclist has gone into a guard rail,” Mr Mullen said.

“When crews got there he’d gone off to organise a tow for the motorbike,” he said.
