COLAC’S Emily Davis thought the highlight of her winter school holidays would be going to a Justice Crew concert at Warrnambool.
But that was before she learnt she would actually be flying to Los Angeles in the United States to meet the band in person.
Emily, 14, entered a competition online to meet the western Sydney band in LA while band members filmed a new music video for their number one song Que Sera.
The Trinity College student entered the competition on June 3 and the next day she found out she had won.
“I saw it on Facebook and Instagram you had to buy their latest song on iTunes then email the receipt to Sony and say in 25 words or less why you love Justice Crew,” Emily said.
“I love justice crew because they inspire me to live my dreams and they make me and their fans happy,” she said.
Emily and her mum Linda Morgan-Davis then flew to LA two days later where they received the star treatment.
“The competition paid for all our airfares, accommodation and transfers,” Mrs Morgan-Davis said.
“We got picked up and dropped off at the airport by a limousine, it was pretty fantastic,” she said.
Emily and her mother got to meet the group and had lunch with one of the members John Pearce.
“I was a bit nervous meeting them, but they were nice,” Emily said.
While in LA, Emily and her mother also went to Universal Studios, took a tour of the city and saw the Walk of Fame.
Mrs Morgan-Davis said the Justice Crew members were as shocked as her about the competition.
“They seemed to be just as surprised about the fast nature of the competition and just the size of it as well,” she said.
“They were really nice and made sure we felt included, they seemed very down to earth and just so happy with what they were doing.”
Emily said her friends were jealous she met her favourite band.
Justice Crew won Australia’s Got Talent in 2010 and their new song Que Sera broke the ARIA music charts record for the longest amount of time in the chart’s number-one spot earlier this month.
Emily said she had like the band since it won Australia’s Got Talent, but liked Justice Crew more after meeting its members.
