It drives me crazy when I have to fill the car in Colac, as I know I am paying far more than I should have to. Like others I try to get petrol when out of town. This has gone on far too long and a thorough investigation is needed. Certain people have made a killing by ripping off this town and they should be made yo pay it back!
Well, now that Colac Otway Shire has Cr Frank Buchanan as mayor Colac should have no problems making progress in its fuel justice campaign.
After all, Cr Buchanan first won a place on the council standing on a platform which essentially promised an independent fuel station for Colac.
Funnily enough, that fuel justice campaign died pretty much as soon as the votes were counted and Mr Buchanan had a place at the council table.
Now we can ask our new mayor to refocus and rekindle his original pre-election promise on a project that will actually have real benefit to everybody who has to buy Colac’s over-priced fuel.
Cr Buchanan, the ball is in your court. Please don’t follow the example of our federal leaders and break pre-election commitments and promises. Do something that will help everyone.
In this year of former prime minister Gough Whitlam’s death, Colac and its leaders need to resurrect the ALP’s slogan from Mr Whitlam’s 1972 election campaign: It’s time!
No doubt the ALP and Mr Buchanan are poles apart in their beliefs, but the sentiment is the same. It’s time for fuel justice. It’s time for leaders to lead. It’s time for the community to be heard. It’s time.
When are we ever going to get to the bottom of this??? All we ever hear is “its the cost of transporting the fuel”… well that’s the biggest crock of shizle out! That should mean the price increases equally as the fuel travels from point A, but no… Its just high in Colac (like the nose of many people) and it affects those less fortunate and business owner the most. Its not fair and something has to be done!
CosWEcount! Inc. Community group are also investigating the Colac Fuel issue:
It’s well time that the people of Colac were given an explanation with regard to the fixed pricing of fuel.
This issue has been detrimental to living standards in Colac for many years, it affects everyone including Businesses.
Politicians have had many years to address this issue and have failed to do so!
