A COLAC district cancer survivor who helped launch Colac Area Health Foundation’s Long Road Appeal is celebrating the appeal reaching $100,000 this week.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards seminar is for young people aged between 18 and 25, and aims to provide “an effective training experience for young people and those who see themselves as potential leaders”.

Nick lives at a sheep farm with cropping land north of Winchelsea’s township, and has called the area home all his life.

Nick is also one of four Deakin postgraduate medical students undertaking a 42-week clinical placement at Colac Area Health this year.

A light shower couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Colac City Band yesterday.

The band played a concert at the Lake Colac Foreshore rotunda from 2pm to celebrate 160 years of the Colac Botanic Gardens.

The gardens were established in 1865, with 2025 marking the 160th year since the land overlooking Lake Colac was set aside “at the call of the people”.
