Tree falls across track on edge of Lake Colac

Colac Otway Shire Council has closed a walking path along Lake Colac while workers clear a fallen tree which blocked the track yesterday morning.

A community petition calling for “better social housing options for Colac” has garnered hundreds of signatures in less than 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the city’s mayor has repeated calls for a proposed housing development at Pound Road to be integrated throughout the community instead.

It comes amid community debate on the proposal that highlights immediate need versus the long-term implications of concentrated social housing.
