COLAC TIGERS coach Stacey McCarthy says the club is proud watching young gun Brooke Allan’s sparkling netball journey unfold.
Allan won the national championship for Victoria at the weekend, stepping up to the 19-and-under ranks this year after helping guide the state to a 17-and-under bronze medal last year.
The 17-year-old plies her trade in Colac’s A Grade team when she’s not playing for the Big V or the Geelong Cougars in the state league.
The Victorian netballers won all seven of their contests in the round robin competition, before defeating Western Australia in a semi-final and proving too strong for New South Wales in the decider.
Allan played in the goalkeeper position at the tournament, and had regular court time for the eventual champions.
McCarthy said the Tigers faithful were thrilled for of their young export’s latest achievements at junior netball’s elite level.
“It’s fantastic, we’re all sitting back and watching her journey closely,” she said.
“They went through the tournament undefeated and Brooke’s still bottom-age.
“It’s a fantastic achievement and we’re all really proud and happy for her that they got that result.”
