PERSONAL MISSION: Carlisle River-raised Tracie Gleisner says her father’s death from cancer when she was a teen inspired her career as a radiotherapy oncologist. Dr Gleisner is working at a new Warrnambool cancer centre.

The Colac Herald filled the one-and-only passenger seat to commemorate Millie’s historic flight to the Avalon Australian International Airshow.

With clear skies, no wind, and a perfect view of the south-west, it was truly a trip to remember – and the ideal opportunity for pilot Jason Cheney to touch down for the world-renowned event.

Colac Area Health Foundation’s Ami Hillege said the event was a chance to raise important awareness and funds for a local wellbeing centre.

$3-MILLION PAVILION PROMISE

Elliminyt Recreation Reserve has received a $3.3-million federal election pledge.

Wannon MP Dan Tehan said a re-elected Liberal government would commit to investing in the redevelopment of the reserve's pavilion, which has had long-running structural issues.

It's the first funding commitment for Colac Otway Shire, with community groups welcoming the pledge and the shire's mayor calling for more federal attention for local projects.
