Apollo Bay batsman Tyson Holt has blasted 173 in his team’s huge total of 8-373 against Irrewarra.
Holt’s knock, the highest score from all divisions this season, helped the Sharks claim victory against the Redbacks.
The Sharks dismissed Irrewarra for 159 in the second day of their two-day match yesterday, claiming a 214-run win.
Apollo Bay captain Darren Gill praised Holt’s season, making 456 runs and averaging 57.
The veteran was building toward a big innings with scores of 41, 58 and 99 in the past three matches.
Gill said, while the match was in progress, he and the rest of the team loved his innings and said Holt “was on fire,” on Saturday.
“It was one of the best innings our guys have seen,” Gill said.
“He played only about three false shots and was never dropped,” he said.
Holt had plenty of support during the Sharks’ first inning, with Ben Knight blasting 53 while Dale Boyd made 37.
