A Colac mother says she gave her daughter life, and donating a kidney to her “is a no brainer” to help give her life again.

The State Government has announced $225,000 for a dog park at Colac's Central Reserve.

The Colac City Reserves Master Plan has set aside land in the north east of the precinct and the project would include a dog obedience training ground, club shed and a fenced off-lead dog park.

A Colac board chair has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the community for its ongoing and generous support for local healthcare.

It comes after Colac and district residents gathered in support of Colac’s Longest Lunch recently, raising about $18,000 for a proposed wellbeing centre.

Colac Area Health Foundation’s board chair Leigh Rich said the funds raised would make “a real difference in the lives of those facing serious health challenges”.

Local 12-year-old train enthusiast Patrick Walsh was part of a crowd that witnessed the final N-class locomotive train pass by Colac Railway Station on the weekend.

After decades of transporting Colac and district passengers, the Warrnambool Line has seen its last locomotive-hauled train.

Sunday morning’s 7.45am service from Warrnambool to Southern Cross Station marked the final classic fleet passenger train on the line.

Cressy's iconic octogenarian biplane is officially a multi-award-winning international airshow star, taking out a prestigious accolade at this year’s Avalon airshow.

The aerodrome’s Tiger Moth ‘Millie’ won Best Visual Display at Avalon, with judges all commending its presentation.

It follows the plane’s accolade in 2023 when it was first presented at the airshow, taking out Best Presented Vintage Aircraft pre-1945.
