Hawk to face tribunal

An Apollo Bay footballer will face a tribunal tomorrow night for umpire abuse following the Hawks’ loss to Otway Districts on Saturday.

All three field umpires reported the Hawk after the final siren when he allegedly targeted the adjudicators verbally at the Gellibrand Recreation Reserve.

The report was among at least three across the Colac district league’s senior matches on the weekend.

Irrewarra-Beeac’s Kane Newcombe reportedly accepted a week for striking South Colac’s Harry Sinclair during the Roos’ win, while officials also cited a Birregurra ruckman during the Saints’ win against Simpson.

However, the Saint’s report was “thrown out” after the match.

Read this week’s Colac Herald for more about the Apollo Bay footballer’s report.
