Premier cricketer could return

Apollo Bay could welcome back strike bowler and former Geelong premier cricketer Jacob McKenzie for tomorrow’s away clash against Colac.

Former Victorian premier cricketer Jacob McKenzie is a chance to return to his home club Apollo Bay tomorrow in a major boost for the coastal club.

McKenzie, one of the Colac district’s best young talents, spent last season with Geelong, playing three games at the top level including one alongside champion Colac export Aaron Finch.

McKenzie has stepped back from the club this season, and new Sharks captain Dale Boyd confirmed the young all-rounder was a chance to line up for the Bay in tomorrow’s clash against Colac.

“It hasn’t been fully confirmed but we think he will play, we’re not sure how many games we could get from him but any chance we get from him will be a bonus,” Boyd said.

“I think he’s keen to play in the Twenty20 matches so he’ll need to play a game to qualify,” he said.
