Cricketers to return for Twenty20 clash

Colac cricketer Alex White, left, will play in the Stallions’ Twenty20 clash against Irrewarra tonight despite being hospitalised with a finger injury on Saturday, while recruit Luke Lloyd will also play after missing Colac’s win against Warrion.

In-form Division One outfits Irrewarra and Colac will bolster their squads with the inclusion of key cricketers for tonight’s Twenty20 clash between the two clubs.

Redbacks skipper Dave Jackson said former Victorian batsman Liam Buchanan was a certainty to play his first game in the short format for the club, while Luke Lloyd was set to return for the Stallions after missing Saturday’s one-day contest to play in Victorian Premier Cricket’s lower-grade ranks with Geelong.

Buchanan, who signed to play a handful of games with Irrewarra this season, was a late withdrawal for the club’s T20 opener against AIvie a fortnight ago after featuring in the Redbacks’ round three match against City United.

“Liam is playing this game, he’s right to go which is great,” Jackson said of the champion Colac district export.

“Hopefully he can get a few runs for us.”

Colac co-captain Alex White said promising batsman Lloyd was set to juggle his 2017-18 commitments with the Stallions and Geelong.
