Brian Crook is returning to Colac Otway Shire Council.
Colac’s Brian Crook will re-join Colac Otway Shire Council after being the successful candidate in a vote count-back.
The Victorian Electoral Commission today had a count-back of votes from the 2016 council election to appoint a replacement for former councillor Terry Woodcroft, who stepped aside to focus on his police work.
Brian Crook received the most votes at the count-back, which encompassed the 14 candidates who were unsuccessful at the 2016 election.
He informed electoral officials that he would accept his new role.
Cr Crook was previously a long-serving council member, including two terms as mayor. He is also a teacher at Trinity College Colac.
See Wednesday’s Colac Herald for more on the count-back.
