Sisters’ semi-final showdown

Sisters Tara Morrissy and Sam Boyington will go head-to-head on the netball court on Sunday to keep their clubs’ seasons alive in a do-or-die A Grade netball semi-final at Colac’s Central Reserve between Morrissy’s Alvie and Boyington’s Otway Districts. The sisters have a good-natured rivalry on court.

Colac’s Morrissy clan will have their eyes glued to the battle between Alvie’s wing-attack and Otway Districts’ wing-defence during Sunday’s cut-throat netball semi-final.

Alvie’s Tara Morrissy is likely to line up next to Otway Districts counterpart Sam Boyington, who happens to be her older sister, when the Swans and Demons fight to keep their seasons alive at Central Reserve.

Twelve years separate the daughters of Colac’s Ed and Kathi Morrissy.

The pair are in their first seasons at their respective clubs after starting out in the sport at Colac Imperials.

The baby of the family, Tara, 18, was a boom recruit at Alvie this year after claiming the Cats’ past two A Grade best-and-fairests, while Sam returned to the Colac district ranks for the first time this decade.

She moved away from home to pursue a career in teaching and had two young children with Geelong-based Otway footballer Shane Boyington.
