Young singer Broadway bound

Tessa Williams will visit America as part of a Young Australian Broadway Chorus tour.

Swan Marsh’s Tessa Williams will sing and dance her way around America as part of a Young Australian Broadway Chorus tour.

Tessa, 18, is part of a 50-person entourage that will visit Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia and New York City for about three weeks next month.

The Trinity College Year 12 student said she would perform glitzy jazz-style routines to some of Australia’s greatest hits as part of the This is Australia tour.

“It involves us performing Australian rock songs with a musical theatre twist to them, songs like Long Way to the Top by ACDC, You’re the Voice and I Am Australian,” she said.

“We’ll perform sometimes twice a day at some places and we’ll also do sightseeing.”

“We’ll go and see Broadway shows and a baseball game and lots of American things.

“I’m the only one from the Western District that’s going over.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever been overseas at all.”
