Colac Imperials footballer Darcy Moloney is on track for a bright future in the sport after earning the Geelong Falcons’ MVP award at this week’s V-Line Cup.
Moloney was among 10 Colac district footballers competing at the weeklong representative carnival at Gippsland for under-16 girls and under-15 boys.
Moloney joined fellow Imps footballers Annabelle Arnold and Gabbi Featherston in the side, which won both of its games against Southern Stingrays Two on Tuesday, and Bendigo Pioneers yesterday.
Moloney earned the best-on-ground medal in yesterday’s win, earning her MVP honours after finishing second best-on-ground in game one.
Falcons assistant coach Jason Armistead, who also coaches the Falcons’ under-18 TAC Cup Girls side, said Moloney had a bright future in the sport.
“She’s just ultra competitive, she just hunts the footy,” he said.
“She’s got areas she can improve on, but she’s got the effort and the right attitude so she stands out.
“She played in the midfield, and we also had Gabbi in the ruck and down back, while Annabelle was good down back and on the ball.”
