New coach to boost premiers

Lorne Football Club has appointed homegrown premiership player and former VFL star Jack Hollmer as the club’s new senior coach. Hollmer is pictured right, playing alongside his brother Kyall in 2007.

Colac district football’s premiers just got even stronger with the announcement that homegrown star and former VFL champion Jack Hollmer will coach Lorne in 2019.

An increase in carp in Lake Colac has prompted one community member to suggest a fishing competition to reduce the pest’s presence in Victoria’s largest natural freshwater lake.

Keen Colac fishers Merrilyn Glynn and her husband George Green regularly fish at Lake Colac, and have noticed an increase in the number of carp splashing about in the water or lying on the shore after being caught in recent weeks.
