Bridge upgrade starting

Contractors are preparing to begin work on Barongarook Creek Bridge this month, with the new bridge expected to be completed in October next year.

Work on Colac’s Barongarook Creek Bridge upgrade will begin this month, with contractors building a temporary steel bridge.

“Work is about to begin on building the new Barongarook Creek Bridge which will replace the existing 80-year-old structure with a brand new, purpose-built crossing,” Major Roads Projects Authority project director Tim Price said.

“A temporary steel bridge will be installed to the side of the current bridge which will ensure we keep traffic moving on the Princes Highway while the old bridge is removed and the new one is built.”
