Colac Otway Shire Council has launched its Christmas campaign to encourage festive shopping in the shire.

The council has provided decorations, designed by the Colac Herald, to businesses in 10 communities across the shire, while a Lucky Star competition will also return to Colac and Apollo Bay businesses.

Mayor Jason Schram said the Lucky Star competition was a joint initiative between the council and local businesses, with the chance for children to win $50 in both Colac and Apollo Bay each week leading up to Christmas.

“Council has been working alongside the Apollo Bay Chamber of Commerce, Colac chamber of commerce and local businesspeople in the lead-up to the Christmas shopping season to host the competition and decorate businesses across the shire,” Cr Schram said.

“Decorations include chair wraps, stickers for the footpath and banners for shop windows with a design developed by the Colac Herald and printed by CPS, all in consultation with an enthusiastic working group of local traders.
