Clean-up for Lake Colac

Back from left, Charlotte Leerson, Jason Colville, Hunter Leerson, and front from left, Bonnie Leerson, Beau Woods, Max Leerson and Sylvester Colville will collect trash on Clean Up Australia Day.

Second Colac Sea Scouts leader Jonathan Graham is asking the community to join them on Clean Up Australia Day.

Mr Graham said the Scouts would be at Lake Colac on the first Sunday of March.

“We’re putting the call out to anyone and everyone that would like to come and be involved,” he said.

“We clean up along the Lake Colac foreshore area, around the yacht club and down along the parkland.”

Mr Graham recommended people to dress appropriately and take along gloves and pick-up sticks if they had them on hand.

“We’ve got bags for picking up rubbish and we’re making sure everyone is safely doing it so no one is picking up anything harmful,” he said.

“It’s around the area that the Scouts are frequently using and we’d like to make sure it’s a safe area for kids to be around and it’s also a great way to give back to the community.”
