Selectors promote keeper

Irrewarra wicketkeeper Lachy Mulder has earned a call-up to the Colac district’s representative side for its January 20 clash with the South West league in Colac.

A delayed start to the summer has failed to stop Colac district selectors from unleashing promising Irrewarra wicketkeeper Lachy Mulder on the senior representative stage.

The young Redback is set to debut for the CDCA in its interleague clash against the South West Cricket Association on January 20.

Officials made four changes for the clash at Colac’s Eastern Reserve, lifting the squad from 11 players to 12.

Andre DeLorenzo is returning to captain the side after missing the association’s 2018-19 series opening loss against the Bellarine Peninsula league, while experienced represtative players Jimmy Rowan and Stewie Sutherland have joined first-gamer Mulder.

They replace Arslan Khan and Jesse Williamson, who will play for Stoneyford in the early rounds of the club’s Warrnambool-based Twenty20 Sungold Cup campaign, while Apollo Bay skipper Billey Bernet is an emergency alongside Dave Jackson and Tim Brain.
