Season over for young Shark after setback

Injury is likely to force Apollo Bay rising star Dylan Murnane to miss the remainder of the Colac district cricket season. The Sharks play City United at Eastern Reserve tomorrow.

Apollo Bay is set to finish its cricket season without Dylan Murnane after the promising all-rounder fractured a forearm.

The 18-year-old suited up for the coastal club’s Division Three side last weekend, with the Sharks having the top-grade bye.

Murnane suffered the setback fielding a ball, after he made an impressive start to the match against South Colac.

The Apollo Bay P-12 College Year 12 student posted a half-century with the bat and took the new ball.

But he was forced to leave the field to attend hospital, which confirmed fears Murnane’s season had come to an early end.

“I was able to get an x-ray in Apollo Bay at the hospital and I’ve got a midshaft ulna fracture,” Murnane said.
