Swans name coach, sign gun midcourter

Alvie officials have announced committed Swans netballer Morgan Eldridge, pictured, will take control of the club’s A Grade side in 2019 as a player-coach and two-time league medallist and ex-Colac best-and-fairest Chelsea Hillman has joined Alvie.

Young Alvie mentor Morgan Eldridge will have plenty of support during her first stint as a senior coach after the Swans secured two star netballers with premiership experience.

Two-time CDFNL league best-and-fairest Chelsea Hillman and former Nirranda netballer Jessica Quick have joined a young Alvie squad eager to take the next step after limited success during the past two finals series.

Eldridge, who Swans officials have put faith in to guide Alvie at just 23, said adding Hillman and Quick to the club was set to become a major asset for Alvie’s up-and-coming list.

Hillman landed multiple premierships and two league medals by the time she was 20 at her junior club Irrewarra-Beeac.

The talented midcourter also enjoyed a successful stint at the Colac Tigers, landing a club best-and-fairest, while she spent last season at Anglesea and secured a top-six finish in the Bellarine league standings.

Quick, who is also expected to play a midcourt role, is no stranger to senior netball and helped Nirranda to a Warrnambool district A Grade premiership last year.
