Alvie is facing an anxious wait after defender Spencer Williamson re-injured a knee that forced him to sit out a year and a half of football.

Williamson missed the entire 2018 season after rupturing the ACL in his left knee, making his return to the field in round one this year.

The key defender went down in the first five minutes of the Swans’ clash with Simpson, but the Swans rallied for their fallen teammate to win 9.9 (63) to 8.10 (58).

Williamson confirmed yesterday it was the knee he’d had reconstructed, but it wasn’t as painful as the initial injury.

“It certainly wasn’t as painful, but the feeling was ugly,” he said.

“I don’t know what I’ve done yet, I’ll have to have a scan.”

Swans assistant coach Angus Uwland said it was disappointing for Williamson, who had started the season well for the undefeated Swans.

“We lost Spencer to another knee injury in the first five minutes of the game,” he said.
