Another close win for South

South Colac’s incredibe record in tight games has continued after escaping with a four-point win against perennial grand finalist Birregurra.

The Roos have now won their past eight games that were decided by 10 points or less, a streak that spans back to round 15, 2017.

Saturday’s 10.5 (65) to 8.13 (61) thriller was the third such game this season, and all of them have come against genuine finals contenders; round four against Lorne, round six against Apollo Bay, and now against the Saints.

“The way we’ve been closing out games have been really good,” Roos coach Josh Black said.

“We’ve got a pretty good record in close games, the guys just don’t panic and know how to finish the game off,” he said.

South Colac trailed by a point heading into the final term on the weekend.

Birregurra forward Paul Ridout, three goals, had the Saints in control, while midfielder Tom Cotton and utility Indy Paddick were also lively.
