Imps teammates prepare for Falcons’ finals campaign

Four Colac district footballers are in the mix to lead the Geelong Falcons in their premiership defence when NAB League Girls finals start this weekend.

Colac Imperials football teammates, pictured from left, Darcy Moloney, Taylah Hassett, Gabbi Featherston and Jeremi Robinson, absent, will aim to lead the Geelong Falcons to back-to-back premierships when NAB League Girls finals start this weekend.

Midfielder Darcy Moloney and key talls Jeremi Robinson and Gabbi Featherston have become locks for the second-placed Falcons during the home-and-away season, but coach Jason Armistead said small forward Taylah Hassett impressed during her return to the side on the weekend to put her hand up for selection.

None of the Colac district players featured in last year’s grand final-winning side.

The Falcons, who finished with an 8-1 win-loss record, will take on third-placed Calder Cannons in a knock-out semi-final at Dandenong on Saturday, with a grand final berth at Ikon Park the following week awaiting the winner.

“Taylah went really well on the weekend, she was really dynamic around the contest and kicked a good goal,” Armistead said.

“Her and Darcy played predominantly up forward and worked well together,” he said.
