Colac students and AKD Softwoods employees will tackle the legendary Kokoda Track this week in a “mutual investment” to foster aspirational leaders in Colac.
AKD chief Shane Vicary, employees Sophie Devine, Justin Hickey and Steve Lusher, Trinity College Colac’s Leanne Eastman, Colac Secondary College’s Xavier Davis, and 12 of the two schools’ students fly this morning to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The group will spend the next eight days completing the Kokoda Track, flying from Port Moresby to Poppendetta, trucking to Kokoda and walking the 96 kilometres through the jungle and the mountain terrain to Owers Corner near Port Moresby.
Shane said the program evolved from AKD’s desire to contribute to the community through encouraging leadership development in Colac’s youth.
