Police are investigating the theft of number plates and fuel in Colac this week.
Police say an unknown man and woman on Tuesday drove into the Woolworths carpark in a maroon Holden Commodore without licence plates, and removed a set of plates off a silver Toyota Corolla.
The pair then allegedly left and put the plates on the Commodore before heading to the Shell service station on the corner of Bromfield and Queen streets at about 11.30am.
Police allege the offenders filled their vehicle with about $68 worth of fuel and left the scene without making an attempt to pay.
