Swans teammates share netball milestone

Alvie coach Morgan Eldridge says having players share their first big milestones together is an indication of the club’s rise in Colac district netball.

Alvie’s Emily McGuane, pictured left, played her 100th C Grade game for the Swans, while A Grade coach Morgan Eldridge, second from left, welcomed Dallas Williamson and Georgia Robinson to the 100 club.

Homegrown Swans Georgia Robinson and Dallas Williamson celebrated 100 games of A Grade netball as Alvie continued its unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 19-goal win against second-placed South Colac on Saturday.

Club officials also recognised the 100-match milestone of Eldridge, who reached hers eight games earlier, while committed Swan Emily McGuane notched up her 100th outing in the C Grade ranks.

Alvie, which bowed out in a semi-final last year, added Chelsea Hillman and Jess Quick to its 2019 squad.

But the majority of the list has played together for the past six seasons.

Eldridge said the tight-knit group were eager to build on their impressive start to the season in a bid to land the club its first top-grade flag since 2006.

“Playing together all those years, there isn’t anyone else you’d rather do it with,” she said.

“Those mini-milestones are exciting while we’re trying to make bigger milestones.

“Our main goal now is to keep winning and keep the foot on the pedal to make sure we don’t pass up an opportunity.

“But there are lots of things we still need to work on.”
