Brothers, sisters teaming up

Western Eagles’ Jaxon and Sienna Mallon have become the latest brother-sister duo to team up on the football field this season, following in the footsteps of Otway Districts siblings Frankey and Maya Farnes.

Colac’s Mallon siblings Jaxon and Sienna have taken the football field together for the first time for their beloved club Western Eagles.

It was a day filled with brother-sister duos, with Frankey and Maya Farnes also suiting up for the Demons.

Respected Eagles football mentor and official – and Jaxon and Sienna’s father – Andrew Mallon said seeing his footy-mad children playing together in the Eagles’ under-15 clash with Otway Districts at the weekend was a special moment for the family.

“They’d played Auskick together in the past for a year, but this was their first game together for the Eagles,” Andrew said.

“It was good, chances are that will probably never happen again.

“I think Sienna got a bit of the footy, she actually gave Jaxon one or two goals even, there was no coming back the other way though at the end of the day.”

Jaxon, 15, got on the end of six majors, while Sienna, 13, played on and off throughout the game after playing a game of netball and the under-13 football match beforehand.

Sienna also played for the Colac Imperials under-15s girls’ side, which is coached by Andrew, on Sunday.
