Chaplains dedicated to work

Kylie Smith provides student wellbeing support at Colac South West and Elliminyt primary schools and Sue Bath, right, at Birregurra Primary School.

A Colac student wellbeing program is continuing to provide invaluable support, after five decades of community care.

School chaplains have been a part of Colac schools for 50 years and have representatives at Colac Secondary College, Colac West Primary School, Colac Primary School, Colac South West Primary School, Elliminyt Primary School and Birregurra Primary School.

The chaplains focus on pastoral care and student wellbeing and provide a comprehensive approach to the wellbeing of school staff, students and their families, collaborating with school principals, wellbeing staff and allied health staff.

Chaplains deliver programs and activities that focus on values, skill building and learning, and assist in times of grief and loss, as well as supporting staff with student behaviour issues and referrals to professional services.
