Birregurra has requested an investigation into an incident in the Saints’ qualifying final loss to South Colac which left Cam White in hospital.
White, a 2017 premiership player, came from the field with a split lip in the first quarter of Birregurra’s 4.9 (33) to 6.11 (47) loss.
No reports were made on the day, but AFL Barwon confirmed this week that the Saints had lodged a request for an investigation.
A league official said they were uncertain whether the case would be resolved before this weekend’s Colac district league semi-finals.
Birregurra coach Ricky O’Toole, who could not comment on the incident, said White was 50-50 for the Saints’ semi-final clash with Apollo Bay on Sunday.
“He had a split lip and concussion, and he went off to hospital to get stitches after the game,” he said.
“So he’s in doubt for the weekend.
“It was disappointing to lose him on the weekend, he’s one of our best runners so it made things hard for us.”
