Champion footballer Brent Macleod will not be coaching Apollo Bay next season.
The Hawks released a statement exclusively to the Colac Herald today confirming the 2019 Jack Mahoney Medallist and the club had parted ways.
The news comes after the Colac district league club announced in July that it had re-signed Macleod for a third year.
“The Apollo Bay Football Netball Club and senior coach Brent Macleod have today made the mutual decision to not renew Brent’s coaching contract for the 2020 playing season,” the statement read.
“The club has been in discussions with Brent over the last few weeks. Today we have concluded that with Brent’s work and family commitments increasing next year, he will be unable to fulfil his role as the senior coach of the Apollo Bay Football Netball Club.
“Our club has undertaken a significant transformation over the last two seasons, and Brent has played a valuable part in this.
“We wish to thank Brent for his contribution as our senior coach and thank all our members for their support and efforts in our pursuit of premiership success.”
Macleod led Apollo Bay to a preliminary final this season.
