Reigning premier Stoneyford has bolstered its bowling stocks with another impressive cricketer from the Colac district ranks.

Maroon Caps skipper Dom Dare said former Colac West cricketer Joel Menzies had committed to the club this season to strengthen its pace options alongside Apollo Bay quick and ex-Vic Country representative Ezrah Robertson.

Menzies, whose cousins Paul and James are Stoneyford premiership players, has played limited cricket with West in recent seasons, but managed to take 22 top-grade wickets in his past 18 outings.

Dare said the talented sportsman would help fill a hole left by Ray Edwards and two-time Bill Johnston Medallist Levi Dare, who have departed the club this season.

“Joel’s mates with a few of the blokes that play with us and we were chasing a few extra overs,” he said.
