Hampden league duo strengthens Alvie’s list

Chris Paatsch is among two players who have crossed to Alvie from the Hampden league.

Alvie will have another dominant avenue to goal with former Cobden leading goalkicker Chris Paatsch signing with the Swans.

The former Otway Districts junior has crossed from the Hampden league along with Camperdown rising star Isaac Stephens.

Paatsch, 30, racked up 100 senior games in his six seasons with the Bombers.

He led Cobden’s goalkicking in his first year at the club with 44, ranking fourth in the league, before shifting into defence the past three seasons.

He re-joins a host of his former Cobden teammates at Alvie, including Angus Uwland and Dare brothers Joe, Lincoln and Dom.

Uwland said he expected Paatsch to play predominantly up forward, and he would free up Dom Dare even more following Dare’s league-leading 87-goal season this year.

“With Dom always getting double teamed, bringing in another focal point should free Dom up,” Uwland said.

“Paatschy’s got really good hands and he’s a beautiful kick, he’ll definitely add a bit to us, and he’s a good fella to have around the club,” he said.

“He’s played over 100 games at Cobden now, so he’ll bring a lot of experience as well.
