Colac East Kindergarten closed this afternoon for deep cleaning, after a family member of a child who attends the kinder tested positive to COVID-19.
The Colac Herald understands Barwon Child, Youth and Family notified families of the test result this afternoon.
BCYF chief Sandy Morrison said the facility would remain closed pending the return of further coronavirus testing from the state’s health department.
“BCYF was advised today that a family member of a child attending our Colac East Kindergarten has tested positive to Covid-19 and is in self–isolation,” he said.
“There have been no confirmed cases of Covid-19 among staff or children at BCYF kindergartens.

Where To Buy“As a precaution and to prioritise the health and safety of children, families and staff, the service was closed this afternoon for deep cleaning. The centre will re-open once close contact test results confirm it is appropriate to do so.
“BCYF is collating information to support DHHS contact tracing (if requested).”
Colac Otway recorded 17 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the shire’s total to 43.
