New cases in Colac Otway

Health authorities have identified two new active COVID-19 cases in Colac Otway in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the shire to 10.

But the cases are unlikely to be related to ALC, with a Barwon health spokesperson today confirming no further positive ALC results since a worker tested positive early last week.

The DHHS now lists 101 cases in the shire since the pandemic began.

Active cases remain unchanged elsewhere in the region, with three active cases reported in Surf Coast Shire, six at Ballarat, three at Warrnambool, and zero in Corangamite and Golden Plains.

Greater Geelong’s active case count dropped from 59 to 55.

Meanwhile, State Government data shows Colac Otway has the highest active case rate in regional Victoria, slightly ahead of Moorabool Shire.

The figure is likely attributable to Colac’s recent outbreak and the shire’s low population.
