Water hazard forces Apollo Bay’s course to close

Parts of the sixth and seventh holes at Apollo Bay’s golf course were under water this week, forcing officials to temporarily close the course.

Colac and district not-for-profits have banded tog

Colac and district not-for-profits have banded together to secure a major five-year, $600,000 program for the region’s service groups.

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal announced this week that Colac would be one of three regional Victorian communities to partner in its IRCF capacity-building program.

The initiative will provide funding, workshops and other resources to help local not-for-profit groups boost their organisations, so they can make an even greater impact into the long-term.

Colac para-athlete Kirstie Newcombe has set her sights on competing at a home national cross-country championships this year.

The 30-year-old scored medals in all four events at the Victorian State Championships at Melbourne’s Albert Park last month.

Newcombe claimed a gold medal in the 800-metre race, while taking home silver in the 1500-metre and 400-metre events, and bronze in the 200-metre sprint.
