Most people usually walk past historical plaques without pausing to read them, but three Colac researchers have used them to gather a snapshot of Colac’s history.

SIGN OF THE TIMES: Richard Francis, Dawn Peel and Helen Paatsch have been researching the stories behind Colac’s historical plaques. They are pictured at a plaque in Memorial Square that commemorates Prime Minister Andrew Fisher’s speech in Colac in 1914 promising Australia will defend the UK “to the last man and last shilling”.
