Five new COVID cases

DHHS has reported a further five confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Colac Otway Shire.

The new cases bring the shire’s active case total to 22, and there have been 114 cases since the start of the pandemic.

There were no further recoveries listed in today’s data.

Today’s figures mean the region has seen its caseload increase by 10 in the past two days after five cases yesterday, and by 14 since the start Friday last week.

Surf Coast Shire has two active cases and Corangamite Shire has one, both unchanged from yesterday.

Greater Geelong had two new cases but its active total remained steady at 38, Warrnambool remained at two active cases, Ballarat dropped by two and now has three cases, and Golden Plains Shire is currently case-free.

Across the state there were 81 new COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing Victoria’s total to 19,415.

The state also added 59 deaths to its total – but 50 of those happened in July and August, with Federal authorities only recently reporting them to DHHS.

Victoria’s coronavirus death toll is now 650.
