Regional Victoria to cut restrictions

Regional Victoria will take the third step in the process to COVID-normal at 11.59pm tomorrow night, reducing restrictions for Colac and district.

Premier Daniel Andrews said regional Victoria’s new case rate has been below five a day recently, and the most recent case of unknown transmission was 14 days ago, with that person to come off the statistics tomorrow.

This means gathering limits will increase to 10 people outdoors, and most businesses can reopen with limits.

There will be a household bubble, with up to five visitors from a single household.

Regional Victorians will be able to travel within regional Victoria, but Melburnians must stay at home.

“It is a massive thing. It is a very positive thing,” Mr Andrews said.

“It is something we should all be very pleased and proud of the job that regional Victorians have done.”

There have been 42 new cases and no deaths in Victoria in the past 24 hours.

More details to come.
