Meanwhile, the city’s mayor has repeated calls for a proposed housing development at Pound Road to be integrated throughout the community instead.

It comes amid community debate on the proposal that highlights immediate need versus the long-term implications of concentrated social housing.

Community groups, businesses and sporting clubs have two days left to apply for council grants to deliver projects for the district, like the Colac Woodcrafters Guild’s new router table.

Colac Otway Shire Council’s 2025-26 grants program is offering more than $300,000 to deliver projects that benefit the wider community.

The grants program has three funding streams including community, events and business grants.

Both games held a minute silence for club life member Theresa Milverton.
