An unprovoked assault in Colac’s Gellibrand Street has left a man stabbed and in hospital, with police urging witnesses or people with footage to come
forward.
The 24-year old victim was sitting on the footpath against the Commonwealth Bank when two unidentified males approached him about 9pm on Tuesday.
The men punched and stabbed the victim several times before running away towards Murray Street.
The victim managed to walk to Colac’s hospital and he was later airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious head injuries.
He had received slashes to his back and arms and was in a stable condition as of yesterday. The victim was not from the Colac area.

Where To BuyColac Criminal Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses to contact police, with multiple vehicles driving through the area.
They particularly want to speak with the occupants of two vehicles who drove through Gellibrand Street at the time of the attack and might have witnessed it.
Police believe the offenders were in their early 20s or late teens, with one wearing dark clothing and the other light clothing.
Police also believe three youths or teenagers were in the area at the time of the incident, with two on scooters, and they might be able to help with the investigation.
