Real estate industry figures say a planned State Government property tax hike will discourage housing development and hamstring efforts to fix Colac’s supply shortage.

Colac para-athlete Kirstie Newcombe has set her sights on competing at a home national cross-country championships this year.

The 30-year-old scored medals in all four events at the Victorian State Championships at Melbourne’s Albert Park last month.

Newcombe claimed a gold medal in the 800-metre race, while taking home silver in the 1500-metre and 400-metre events, and bronze in the 200-metre sprint.

Colac’s Longest Lunch has brought the community together to raise about $18,000 for local healthcare.

Colac Area Health Foundation’s Ami Hillege said the event was a chance to raise important awareness and funds for a local wellbeing centre.
